The C02 laser applies light pulses accurately and precisely vaporizing damaged tissue, layer by layer, revealing the new skin underneath. The laser beam is absorbed by the water in the skin's cells causing them to dry. The dead cells are then wiped away from the treated area. Fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and eyes are smoothed. Deep creases and frown lines will be softened and acne scars minimized. Once the outer layer of skin has been removed, the new skin beneath is softer, smoother, and more youthful. The laser's fine and specific control offers a safer and more predictable procedure than the older techniques of dermabrasion and deep chemical peeling. Based on the areas treated, the procedure takes between thirty minutes to an hour and a half. The areas that have been treated will appear red, irritated and somewhat moist for the first few days, but this is totally normal. We prescribe special medications to accelerate the resolution of the redness. Most patients are able to return to work in seven to nine days with makeup. The post-treatment redness gradually fades over a matter of weeks, leaving the skin with a fresher, smoother, more polished and youthful appearance. After treatment, the routine use of sunscreen is recommended to protect your skin from damaging ultraviolet rays. |
