Versatility is the name of the game when it comes to Sciton’s Single Spot Resurfacing handpiece. Although Sciton’s regular large scanners have many uses in their own right, the smaller single spot adapters, including the 4 mm, 2 mm and 0.5 mm, provide a more precise method to treat conditions like artinic keratosis, dermatosis papulosis nigra, and lesions.
The Sciton Single Spot adaptor can be used for a variety of cosmetic and medical treatments. Dr. Stan Kovak, M.D. of Kovak Laser Institute, states that various benign lumps and bumps are usually the order of the day when using the single spot adapter. “The different treatments include: removing warts with pure ablation or adding heat for recalcitrant plantar warts, xanthomas, syringomas, seborrheic keratosis, and actinic keratosis. It is easy to painlessly unroof a molluscum lesion or a deep plugged pore. Commonly, I will remove a skin tag or to flatten benign, flesh-colored nevi, which is on the face, and the patient wants a nice cosmetic result.”
Because of its size, the single spot handpiece also offers flexibility and options to its users and patients. “With this single device, you can treat a variety of cosmetic problems from a small skin tag to deep wrinkles, locally or diffuse, and also use it for removing many non-malignant medical conditions for a clean cosmetic appearance,” explains Dr. Kovak. Not only that, patients will see the benefits of its versatility and will return again for other procedures.
Dr. Kovak has also seen several successes, especially when he uses the 2 and 4 mm adaptors. “The 4 mm allows you to add heat if you need it, and to treat a large lesion more quickly. But my most favorite is the 2 mm adaptor. I can remove almost anything with minimal, if any, discomfort. I choose a depth of 20 microns and treat each lesion delicately. The patient doesn’t feel any discomfort at this setting and I can virtually remove a lesion layer by layer without having to distort the shape of the lesion with a local anesthetic,” Dr. Kovak explains.
With so much flexibility in this handheld piece, it’s easy to see why physicians choose Sciton’s Single Spot adaptor.
