What is Eczema?
Eczema is also known as atopic dermatitis, or atopic eczema. Eczema typically affects children, but sometimes it does continue into maturity and in some cases begins in adulthood. Eczema is a chronic skin condition where patient’s skin becomes constantly itchy, cracked and dry.
Do I have Eczema? What are the symptoms?
As atopic eczema is a long-term disease so symptoms are generally present all the time. However, symptoms may worsen and the patient will probably require more intense treatment if there is a flare-up.
Eczema symptoms (without flare-up):
- The skin might be broken in places
- Cracked Skin
- Dry skin
- Itchy Skin
- Nighttime itchiness
- Red and inflamed skin
- Blisters or weeping blisters
- Red to brownish-gray colored patches
- Small, raised bumps
